As I write this, there are presently 10 animals, one of which (Miracle) is pregnant with Archangel's Maximus's baby (due in the summer of 2010).
Quality
Several attributes combine to make a high quality animal: their fleece (crimp, color, density conformation), their physical characteristics (proper form, proportion) and their demeanor. Every farm's animals will run the gamut from excellent, breeding-quality animals to gelded males who just produce fleece. In an effort to be as straightforward as possible, I'm trying to explain the herd so there is enough information if you are an experienced alpaca owner but understandable enough for someone just getting involved.
Females (Proven) - 4
Proven females are those who have successfully been bred and delivered healthy offspring.
Females (Unproven) -3
Our unproven females are both yearlings (last year's babies). Update! Miravelle's Melody was born 7/14/09. She will be pictured here soon.
Breeding Males - 2
These are top quality males, who have all earned ribbons at alpaca shows for their superb physical attributes and superior fleece. They are sought by other farms for breeding and earn stud fees, which can range from $1-5,000 per breeding.
Baby boys - 1
Baby Miles was just born on June 13. He is showing signs of being a rich, dark brown color, although it is hard to judge an alpaca's permanent color at such a young age.
